 BEDA has been awarded a grant to provide energy coordinator services for Grand and Jackson Counties through April 2012.The Community Energy Coordinator’s community responsibilities are to:

  • Convene an advisory board, made up of community leaders, who will provide regular input and feedback regarding the progress of the Partner’s sustainability work in the community
  • Develop a strategic sustainability plan (STRATEGY) to specifically address plans to reduce fossil fuel emissions in the multiple jurisdictions covered under the grant
  • Coordinate community efforts to implement the STRATEGY and GEO Programs
  • Conduct New Energy Economy community outreach and educational events at least quarterly
  • Respond to energy-related grant proposals and manage awarded grants
  • Maintain information about community energy efficiency and renewable energy incentives and programs in the GEO database
  • Participate in GEO public outreach stakeholder group discussions
  • BEDA will cooperate and collaborate with the counties of Grand and Jackson for a period of 2 years.

 The Community Energy Coordinator and the GEO will 

  • Have ongoing, frequent interactions, with the assigned GEO regional representative acting as the primary GEO point of contact
  • Participate in a formal quarterly review, to ensure efficient use of resources and evaluate progress
  • Participate in GEO’s Community Energy Coordinator training sessions
  • Develop and or maintain partnerships with local utility providers, community groups active in energy and conservation activities, and local government leaders and elected officials
  • Communicate regarding GEO’s renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.  The Community Energy Coordinator will be expected to understand and participate in those programs, as applicable to their communities.
