BEDA Tackles Energy Issues

Why does BEDA care about energy?  A prosperous and resilient economy is built in part, on businesses and families who have the knowledge and ability to control their energy costs.  Our regional prosperity and personal security are linked to our ability to pay for heat, electricity, transportation and water.

Regional Energy Plan

On Earth Day April 22, 2010 a fleet of F/A-18 Green Hornets left the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River flying over the Chesapeake Bay on a blend of biofuel made from camelina seed.

The Cost of Hot Water

The average household spends approximately one third of their heating dollars on water heating. How can you save energy and money? Start by turning down the thermostat on your water heater.

  •  Somewhere between 120° F and 140°F  will work for most users.
  • Take shorter showers.
  • Use cold water when possible to wash laundry.
  • Insulate at least the first five feet of line from the hot water heater.

EZ Tips For Energy Savings
