The Stars are Falling Party

It is the Perseid Meteor Shower and there is no better place to view it in our neck of the woods than the Walden Airport. Get a guided tour of the night sky from local astronomers and view the skies through telescopes. A free event courtesy Ranges and Rivers and the Jackson County Outdoor Education Network!  See you Friday August 13, 7:30pm-10:00pm. Dark skies reduce energy consumption and increase star gazing opportunities!

Energy Saving Window Treatments

An average home may lose up to 30% of its heating or cooling energy through its windows.  While your first impulse may be to replace your old windows with higher performing windows, you may find that you simply can’t afford to.
Blinds, shades and window films are an affordable alternative to window replacement.

Rebates Still Available

Invest in energy! Go to Recharge Colorado to view the rebates available in our area. They include:

Energy Audit Equipment

On June 1,  BEDA submitted a $9400 grant request for energy audit  equipment to the Governor’s Energy Office . Originally we had thought that there would be an application submitted from a local  business. Due to time constraints and the potential for collaboration BEDA submitted the application instead. The equipment is for residential and small commercial energy audits in Grand and Jackson Counties. If the application is successful, BEDA will make the equipment available to certified contractors and establish guidelines for its use.

Location, Location, Location

After a visit to Showboat's Drive By Pie in Granby last week for a breakfast burrito, I reflected on the following statement: HALF OF THE AMERICAN POPULATION DOES NOT DRIVE. For the most part, they are either too young or too old, although there are many reasons why people don't drive. The belief that communities designed for universal mobility will thrive while those that can only be navigated by automobile will struggle, is gaining traction in the planning community and among the general population.
